Effective as of February 2006 there is a new short section of the Way introduced thereby avoiding a track that had previously passed through the centre of a field. The new route follows round the edge and adds no additional distance to the route. On safely crossing the fast and busy East Coast Rail line the way remains on the original north east line across the field to the pedestrian bridge over the Beal Cast (small water course). On crossing the Cast the route now follows the new line turning left and heading in a NW direction, then turning to a northerly direction before a right turn and walking in a NEE direction towards the Beal Sands. Having crossed out of the field and onto the path running alongside the sands the walk turns left and takes a generally northerly direction towards the road leading between Beal and the Holy Island. Note that on reaching the sands the route has returned to the original route. This is all waymarked and we cannot envisage any problems being encountered. If however you are looking for more information please contacrt Phil Bradley of Northumberland County Council on 01670 534079, or email, pjbradley@northumberland.gov.uk. |
